Yay pics!

All right, so we finally went through the pics and got them posted. Daniel got into an open crib on Thursday and he's packing on the chunk, up to 4lb 1oz.

Peeking out....

MMMM....tasty thumb....

Waking up....

Awww....

Paul really likes taking bad pictures of me. Here's one of the less awful ones. :)

Back to our regularly scheduled cuteness....

The feeding tube got moved to his nose now that it's free of the CPAP. This is so that he can start taking his feeds by mouth, which is the one big thing left on his checklist.

Open crib! Okay, it's really more like a bin, but it's progress.

No more CPAP!

So Paul worked a week of nights, then we had the shower and whatnot, and now he's got an ear infection, so he's been slacking a bit on the updates. I'm not too good with the pics, but I figured I'd at least give the info. :)

The big news is that Daniel's finally off CPAP! That's the mask/tubes that was giving him some extra air pressure to make sure he was breathing deeply enough. They started weaning him off it last week, and yesterday they took it away completely. This also means that he should be out of the isolette and into an open crib any time now, since he's been doing just fine holding his temperature on his own. Up next is weaning him off the feeding tube and keeping up the weight gain. He's up to 3lb 14oz now. Last night, he yanked his feeding tube right out, so I guess he's saying it's just about time! :)

Mask thingy

Up to 2 pounds 11 ounces. Honestly, daily checks in on his weight is a foolish enterprise. He fluctuates a bit and sometimes goes down depending on who's doing the weighing. Any way, here's a picture of the new mask thing. I say "new" but he's had it on there for a couple of weeks. I seem to really stink at the timeliness of posting pictures...

Over the past couple of days he was having more troubles keeping his heart rate and blood oxygen up, so they checked him for another infection. They even gave him a spinal tap, I guess a really small spinal tap. Anyway, it turns out that he was just low on blood, so they gave him a reload. He's now quite pink. Actually, he's quite red when pooping. Very red. I'm glad we left before it was time to change him again.

Here's a picture during the 4 minutes between when we changed him and when he started making that scrunchy red face again.

Yet more pictures

Following requests from both grandmothers.... here have some more pictures. Daniel's up to 2 pounds 9 ounces, so we'll probably never see his ribs again. He also has a new air tube mask thingy. The old one was irritating him and he seems to hate the new one less. Then again, the new one nudges out of position far more easily so the nurses hate it more.

See the beige band-aid looking thing with the white wire? That's his pulse/oxygen saturation sensor. It's sticky and normally supposed to be wrapped around a foot. Then on top of it to make sure it doesn't come off, the nurses put a foam and velcro band just for good measure. That would be the blue and white curled up thing next to it.

HAIR!!!! He's got a big 'ole swirl right in the middle just like his old man.
